 Like any capital city, Vienna boasts lots of opportunities to spend money, whatever your budget may be. There’s everything from international high fashion brand names, local designers, and the ubiquitous chain stores. Vienna has several areas with a high concentration of stores where you can spend several hours getting some souvenirs.

 

Graben/Kohlmarkt
This is where the rich shop in Vienna. At the corner of Graben and Kohlmarkt is Julius Meindl, a store full of delicacies from all over the world. While it can get quite pricey to buy food there, it’s enough fun to just have a look at all the different types of fruit, candy, wine, etc. Further down towards the Hofburg are the most posh stores in the city.

U1/U3 Stephansplatz

 

Kärntnerstraße
On the opposite side of Graben from Kohlmarkt, Kärtnerstraße leads all the way down to the opera. Here, you can find about any type of store, cheap and expensive alike. Stroll down this street to experience one of Vienna’s most popular shopping streets. It’s almost always busy at all times of the day. It’s a good place to get some souvenir shopping done while you’re on the way to the opera or Karlsplatz.

U1/U3 Stephansplatz

 

Mariahilferstraße
Mariahilferstraße is almost like an outdoor mall. You can find any major chain store here, the likes of H&M, Zara, Benetton, Mexx, etc. It’s easy to spend a lot of time and money in this alley of consume and revamp your outer appearance completely. It’s always fairly crowded but especially on the weekends. Try to avoid that particular day in case you were planning to actually go shopping there.

U3 Neubaugasse/ Zieglergasse

 

7th district
This district is home to most creative designers and individual stores in Vienna. Whether you’re interested in making your own jewelry, getting some individually crafted presents, or explore some of the concept stores there, you`ll have a good time when shopping here.
