Spending lots of money on drinks is an easy task in Vienna, where nothing is really cheap. Yet, there are some ways to not totally get off budget when going out in the city. Clubbing is quite pricey, since you have to pay an entrance fee in most places and then still get some drinks. Some clubs offer specials for girls, or when you get there before a certain hour. Keep an eye on people distributing leaflets all over town.

1 Euro Bar
The name of the bar explains the concept. Every drink costs 1 Euro. Period. The atmosphere is accordingly. The branch in the 9th district has food for 1 Euro per Portion, as well.

Mojo
This cozy bar in the Bermuda Triangle is great to lounge and warm up before heading out to dance in the nearby clubs. The decorum is colorful and rather happy, reminiscent of the 60s in an Austin Powers way. It’s fairly centrally located in the north of the 1st district. There’s a special on cocktails from Thursday through Saturday that lasts the entire night. There also are some small snacks you can order that are very tasty and will provide you with enough energy to party all night long.

Seitenstettengasse 5, 1010 Wien
Hours: from 5pm daily
U1/U2 Schwedenplatz

Donau
This bar has a reputation for being “underground“, at least the location conveys that feeling. It’s located in a former storage room and not very distinct on the outside. Note the special decoration on the ceiling and the projection on the wall that changes on a weekly basis. There often are live-DJs with a great selection of music, mostly electronic, sometimes Raggae, as well.

Karl-Schweighofergasse 10, 1070 Wien
Hours: Mon-Sat 8pm-4am, Sun 8pm-2am
U2/U3 Volkstheater

Charlie P’s
One of the numerous Irish pubs in town, this one has two floors. There usually is some kind of music playing in the basement with some small space to dance. The upstairs area offers comfortable places to sit. The menu is extensive, the choices of food and drinks are plentiful. This is also a good location to start the evening.

Währingerstraße 3, 1090 Wien
Hours: Mon- Thu 12am- 2am, Fri&Sat 12 am – 3pm, Sun 12am-1pm
U2 Schottentor
